A pipe to deliver Azerbaijani gas to Europe ready for operation – project work finished

July 29, Fineko/abc.az. The last welding works have been completed as part of the project of construction of the Trans-Adriatic Gas Pipeline (TAP) to transport natural gas from the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea to Europe.

ABC.AZ reports that the relevant statement was made by the TAP Consortium. Thus, the 878 km section between the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the receiving terminal in Italy has been connected.

At primary stage the TAP, part of the Southern Gas Corridor, will annually carry to Europe 10 bn cu m of gas extracted within Shah Deniz Project 2. TAP, connecting TANAP near the village of Kipoi on the border of Greece and Turkey, will run through Greece and Albania and will extend at the bottom of the Adriatic Sea to southern Italy.

Through TAP, 33% of Bulgaria's gas needs, 20% of Greece and 10.5% of Italy will be met.
