Azerbaijan to increase excise tax on tobacco and alcohol

Chairman of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan Aydin Aliyev has stated today that the question of increasing excise tax for tobacco products and alcoholic beverages is on agenda.

Committee’s chair says that currently they are discussing the matter with the government.

"We know that the current situation after devaluation of the manat does not conform to reality. Excise taxes on tobacco and strong drinks can be increased. In the country there are enough businesses in this area, and our main task is to protect domestic production," the SCC chair emphasized.
