15:48 - 22.10.2020

October 22, Fineko/abc.az. On 21 October, President Ilham Aliyev gave an interview to Japanese newspaper Nikkei.

ABC.AZ reports that the head of state touched upon a number of issues, including answering the question about the possibility of a referendum in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The president noted that there will be no referendum in Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Self-determination is an important factor of international law. However, this should not violate the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. But we will never allow the creation of a second Armenian state on the territory of Azerbaijan. This is out of the question. There will be no referendum in Nagorno-Karabakh. We will never agree to this. We did not agree to this during the negotiations, and now that most of the territories have been returned, this is out of the question. As for self-determination, the Armenians have already decided their fate. They have an independent state of Armenia," President Aliyev said.
