Azerbaijan spent AZN 227 million manats on grain import in 2017

February 19, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan imported 1.6 million tons of grain in 2016.

Agriculture Minister Heydar Asadov said that last year the country imported 1.2 million tons of grain and spent AZN 227 million for that.

"This is a large sum. Studies have shown that 37% of imported grain is 1-3 grade, and the rest is of the technical purpose. We can easily produce grain ourselves, and work has already been conducted to organize technical support in this area," the minister emphasized.
