Metrovagonmash to build two more trains for Baku Metro

12:30 - 19.02.2018

February 19, Fineko/abc.az. Metrovagonmash (part of CJSC Transmashholding) and the Baku Metro Company have signed a contract for delivery of two 5-car trains of model 81-765/766 to the capital of Azerbaijan.

Metrovagonmash reports that the contract was signed by its CEO Boris Bogatyrev and BMC chair Zaur Huseynov.

"The first delivery of new wagons to Baku is scheduled for this March. The contract should be fulfilled in 2018," the Russian company said.

Cars of series 81-765/766 have been produced by Mytishchi plant since the beginning of 2017 for the needs of the Moscow Metro under the name ‘Moscow’. Unlike the Baku Metro’s order, 6-car and 8-car trains are delivered to the capital of Russia, and each of them includes non-motor intermediate cars of model 81-767 (one intermediate car in 6–car trains and two ones in 8-car trains).

The plant has been supplying wagons to the capital of Azerbaijan since 1967. The Baku Metro is operating today 280 cars of Mytishchi plant.

The previous delivery of Mytishchi metro wagons to Azerbaijan took place in 2015, when Metrovagonmash together with Alstom supplied to the Baku Metro three 5-car trains of model 81-760.B/761.B/763.B with through passage.
