January 21, Fineko/abc.az. And after many years of discussions, the Convention, which opens up new opportunities for countries to develop energy resources, as well as joint activities to protect the Caspian Sea, was agreed.

ABC.AZ reports that the relevant statement was made by President Ilham Aliyev, while receiving Turkmen President Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov in the video-format meeting.

"We must continue to do everything together to protect this unique reservoir, which brings so many benefits to our peoples. Today, watching the signing, I thought that today our ancestors, probably, if they saw today's ceremony, would be happy. As they say, their soul rejoices. They would be proud of us, for the fact that the two fraternal peoples today go hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder together, confidently, support each other, cooperate for the benefit of the future of their peoples, thereby ensuring the progressive development of our countries for many years, decades to come," President Aliyev said.
