February 11, Fineko/abc.az. With the purpose to further strengthen the protection of the environment from harmful effects, the import, production, sale and delivery of plastic bags with thickness of up to 15 microns to customers at retail, public catering and service facilities are prohibited in Azerbaijan. This change requires the adoption of a state standard to regulate the quality and safety of packages used for food packaging and in industry.

ABC.AZ was informed at the State Service for Antimonopoly Policy & Consumer Market Supervision that according to the requirements of the new standard, there should be no cracks, cuts, holes on the surface of packages, and the internal surfaces should not stick. Packages must meet the requirements of the standard in appearance, size, thickness, seam tightness, load capacity of the handle, hygienic parameters and other indicators. At the same time, the products should not be toxic when used and should not cause harm to human health in normal room and weather conditions.
