Deputy Energy Minister of Azerbaijan Gulmammad Javadov has received representatives of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

A the meeting the deputy minister stated that one of the priorities of the strategic roadmap aimed at developing public utility services in Azerbaijan is creation of an effective mechanism of regulation of the sector.

"In this regard, it is necessary to accelerate collaboration with USAID in the work concerning drafting of the Bill on the electricity market of Azerbaijan. The primary version of the draft bill has already been considered at the Ministry of Energy and there is a need for some amendments," the deputy minister emphasized.

In turn, USAID Azerbaijan Mission director Mikaela Meredith said that USAID is ready to provide necessary support for realization of measures covered by the strategic roadmap.

Following the meeting a decision was made on giving of the final conclusion on the Bill by the Energy Ministry within 10 days.
