June 13, Fineko/abc.az. Azerenergy plans to connect the Nakhchivan electric grid to the general energy system of Azerbaijan in 2023-2024.
Azerenergy’s president Baba Rzayev says that the process will be carried out within the energy project between Azerbaijan, Turkey and European countries:
"One of the main priorities outlined by President Ilham Aliyev is the creation of a "green energy zone" and ensuring both domestic and external demand. This is a 3-stage large project called "Energy Project between Azerbaijan, Turkey and European countries".
The 1st stage has already started and should be completed in 2022-23. At the 2nd stage, in 2023-2024, it is planned to connect the Nakhchivan electric grid to the general energy system of Azerbaijan. The 3rd stage envisages the creation of a converter substation. We want to build a substation with capacity of at least 1,000 MW, provide connection with Iran and sell electricity to Europe through Turkey."
