Turkish-Armenian border cleared of mines

July 13, Fineko/abc.az. The procedure to clear the territory of mines is underway in the Turkish region of Akyar, adjacent to the border with Armenia, ABC.AZ reports with reference to Turkish newspaper GazeteKars. 

It was noted that the mine clearance work has been going on for 3 weeks by an Israeli company.  This is one of the steps to normalize relations between Turkey and Armenia. Active preparatory work is underway for the opening of the Dogukapi and Alikan checkpoints. From the Armenian side, these are Akhuryan and Margara checkpoints, respectively. The borders will be open to citizens of third countries.
