October 6, Fineko/abc.az "If before the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), the global economy observed an average annual growth of 3.5%, then in 2020, when the pandemic continued, there was a decline of 3.2%," ABC.AZ reports citing Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov at the Baku event "Financing Sustainable Development: Sustainable and Green Recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic”.
The minister noted that last year, due to the pandemic, Azerbaijan's GDP decreased by 4.3%. Despite the fact that state revenues have declined, the government has provided assistance to the population and businesses in the amount of $2.7 billion to ensure macroeconomic stability.
"This aid package covered 5 million citizens. 2021-2022 will be the period of economic recovery in Azerbaijan, and favorable dynamics will allow to bring the value of non-oil exports to $2.2 billion by the end of this year," Jabbarov said.
