11:48 - 7.10.2021

October 7, Fineko/abc.az. Japanese car giant Nissan will cease production at its two factories in Mexico this month due to shortage of semiconductor chips.

ABC.AZ reports that the operation of one plant in the central state of Aguascalientes will be suspended for 11 days in October, and the plant in the state of Morelos will be stopped for 8 days.

According to the forecast of The Boston Consulting Group, due to the shortage of chips, the production of cars in the world will decrease by 7-9 million vehicles in 2021.

Thus, in the 1st quarter the production losses of global automotive companies amounted to 1.4 million cars and in the 2nd quarter – 2.6 million cars.

It is expected that production losses in the 3rd and 4th quarters will amount to 3-5 million cars, depending on which scenario the market will develop.
