Azerbaijan's strategic foreign exchange reserves have grown

October 20, Fineko/abc.az. Since the beginning of the year Azerbaijan's strategic foreign exchange reserves have increased more than by $2 billion, ABC.AZ reports citing Elman Rustamov, the chairman of the Central Bank.

He noted that this trend will continue until the end of the year.

According to the balance of payments published on the Central Bank's website, the surplus in the oil and gas sector in the 1st half of 2021 amounted to $4.6 bn (a rise of 40.7%), while the deficit in the non-oil sector reached $2.7 bn (a rise of 1.8%).

The average oil price for Jan-Jun 2021 was $57.7 per barrel against $41.8 a year earlier.
