August 17, Fineko/abc.az. Iran is in talks to connect to the Mir system, and technically this may happen in the near future, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari said in an interview with the Iranian agency ILNA.

ABC.AZ quotes Safari as saying the main condition for Iran's connection to the Mir payment system is the availability of the financial information exchange system between Moscow and Tehran, similar to SWIFT. At the same time, the deputy minister insists that such a system should be autonomous to be able to “de-dollarize” payments.

Qorban Eskandari, General Director of the Department of Banking and Insurance Affairs of the Ministry of Economy of Iran, confirmed the continuation of negotiations on connecting Iran to the Mir system. At the same time, he noted that all Iranian banks, which will apply with a corresponding request to the Central Bank of Iran, will be able to get access to the system.
