Azerbaijan reduces export of potatoes

August 24, Fineko/abc.az. In the first half of 2022, Azerbaijan reduced the export of potatoes by 14.8%, and the import of these products into the country decreased by 3.6%.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to Interfax that in January-June 2022, Azerbaijan exported 78,156 tons of potatoes (a decrease by 14.8%) in the amount of $35,059.15 thousand (a decrease by 12%).

The main export was to Russia. In particular, in January-June, 73,532 tons of potatoes were exported to Russia (a decrease of 13.5%) in the amount of $33,384.15 thousand (a decrease of 12.8%). In general, the Russian Federation accounted for 93.9% of potato exports from Azerbaijan in the reporting period.

At the same time, in the first half of 2021, 100,051 thousand tons of potatoes in the amount of $26.308 million (an increase of 1.7%) were imported to Azerbaijan (a decrease of 3.6%).  The main supplier of potatoes to Azerbaijan was Iran - 36,128 tons of potatoes (worth $8,932,000), followed by Turkiye with 30.62 thousand tons worth $7,669,000, Pakistan with 24,555 tons worth $7,366,600.
