World's largest duty free opens in China

October 3, Fineko/abc.az. The world's largest duty free store will open in Haikou, China, on 28 October, ABC.AZ reports, referring local newspaper Hainan Daily.

The store itself with an area of 280,000 sq m is part of a huge complex.

There will be located, among other things, a hotel, office space and other shops where general-purpose goods will be sold.

To date, more than 800 Chinese and foreign brands are ready to place their products in this duty-free shop, the paper writes.

Hainan authorities launched a pilot program on the creation of an expanded duty-free trade network in 2011. Currently, there are nine duty-free shops on the island, located in the capital of Haikou Province, the resort of Sanya, as well as in the coastal town of Boao of Qionghai district in the northeast of Hainan Province.
