November 30, Fineko/abc.az. Despite the presence of an international bus terminal complex in Baku, there are still cases of congestion of buses moving to districts in other parts of the city. What measures are being taken to prevent transportation of passengers by buses moving to districts outside the bus terminal complex?

ABC.AZ was informed at the Ministry of Digital Development & Transport that during the COVID-19 pandemic, passenger transportation at bus stations was suspended for a certain period by Cabinet Ministers’ decision.

"During that period, a significant number of illegal carriages were carried out. After the restoration of intercity passenger transportation, difficulties arose in the work of carriers and the bus station system. Because transportation of passengers was carried out without entering the bus stations and without buying tickets at the ticket offices. Illegal trips outside bus stations by buses that have not passed any technical checks, and in some cases do not meet the requirements for passenger transportation, negatively affects the profitability of both bus stations and carriers.

In this regard, a meeting was held first with large carriers, and then with the heads of bus stations. At the meetings, identification of shortcomings in the field of passenger transportation, ways to solve them, the activities of carriers, problems faced by entrepreneurs were discussed. Suggestions for solving problems were received from them. Based on these proposals, an action plan has been developed to improve the efficiency of bus stations. The action plan

Envisages electronic sale of tickets for passenger carriages," the Ministry says.
