Land borders of Azerbaijan to be opened in near future

December 6, Fineko/ It became known for what reason the land borders in Azerbaijan are not being opened.

ABC.AZ reports that Milli Majlis MP Sultan Mammadov says that there are a number of reasons why the land borders remain closed, despite the fact that the pandemic has subsided. At that, the MP announced the opening of borders.

"The closure of the land borders in Azerbaijan at that time was a step taken in connection with the pandemic. Today, the state is more interested in opening borders than the population. As in any case, the closure of borders damages the economy. But the fact that the borders are not being opened means that there are reasons for this. This is important, first of all, to prevent situations that could harm our national interests against the background of complex processes taking place in the world. Under the current realities, the closure of borders as a result of an assessment of all risks is a step born of necessity.

I’d like to note once again that Azerbaijan itself is interested in opening borders. The borders will open, there is no doubt about it. Today we see that the incidence in China has also increased. Repeated introduction of any restrictions causes irritation in people. Therefore, it would be wrong to cancel the restrictions and restore them. The reason for not opening borders is the geopolitical situation in the world and the region, as well as the pandemic. We hope that this situation will change soon, and our borders will open," he stressed.
