IMF has improved forecast on Russia

January 31, Fineko/abc.az. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised its assessment of Russia's economic growth towards improvement and forecasts Russian GDP growth of 0.3% in 2023 and 2.1% in 2024.

ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in the published January update to the IMF report on the prospects for development of the world economy.

According to the data provided, Russia’s GDP decreased by 2.2% in 2022. As follows from the document, the IMF improved by 2.6 percentage points its October forecast on growth of this indicator in the Russian Federation for 2023, and also improved by 0.6 p.p. the forecast for 2024.

The WB has previously presented a forecast on the prospects for development of the world economy. It follows from the document that Russia's GDP will decrease by 3.3% this year and will increase by 1.6% next year.
