June 6, Fineko/abc.az. A pilot program on payment of unconditional basic income will be launched in England in the near future.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to radio station LBC, 30 people living in London and Jarrow will receive £1,600 ($1,900) a month.

The aim of the experiment to be conducted with participation of analytical center Autonomy is to assess impact of payments without any conditions on the mental and physical health of people.

"Our society will need some form of basic income in the coming years, given climate change, technological breakthroughs and the industrial transition that lies ahead," Autonomy said.

The Guardian recalls that this is not the first pilot program in the UK designed to assess the advantages and disadvantages of an unconditional basic income. A similar experiment is underway in Wales. The local authorities have not yet reported on its results.
