Iran-Azerbaijan Economic Cooperation Commission to gather for a meeting in December

Azerbaijani Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev has received Minister of Economy & Finance Masud Karbasiani of Iran.

During the meeting Minister Mustafayev stated that both countries’ trade turnover increased by 70% in 2016 and by 33% for Jan-Sept 2017.

"The Iranian side invested over $3 bn in Azerbaijan's economy, and currently Azerbaijan is numbering more thna 500 Iranian companies," the minister said.

He added that there is also a prospect of joint ventures on production of agricultural plants and in the field of fruit drying, seed production and packaging of beekeeping products. The Azerbaijani minister also invited the Iranian businessmen to take advantage of the logistics center of Azerbaijan in Aktau.

In his turn, Minister Karbasiani told about prospects of development of cooperation, about the importance of railway line Gazvin-Rasht, where construction work has been finished by 95%, and which will be commissioned in March 2018. During the meeting the parties also discussed the mater of regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade & Humanitarian Cooperation to be held in Tehran this December.
