The birth rate in Japan fell to a record of 1.26% last year.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has unveiled an extensive plan of action in connection with the decline in the birth rate in the country.

The minister said the plan includes measures such as increasing payments to families with children and providing housing for hundreds of thousands of families. Kishida added he hopes to double spending on child allowances by the early 2030s, which currently amounts to $33.7 bn.

According to the minister, the problem of reducing the birth rate and the aging of the population must be solved.
