German parliament simplifies entry of specialists

12:01 - 24.06.2023

June 24, Fineko/abc.az. The German Bundestag voted on Friday in favor of a new bill that will make it easier for qualified workers from outside the European Union to enter the country.

ABC.AZ reports that the broadcast was conducted on the parliament's website.

388 MPs voted in favor, mainly from the ruling coalition - the Social Democratic Party of Germany, the Greens and the Free Democratic Party. 234 parliamentarians voted against the bill, 31 MPs abstained.

The new law gives qualified specialists the right to enter even if they do not yet have a contract with an employer. In this case, they need to confirm their knowledge of the German language, a diploma and work experience. The chances of entry will be increased by the fact that the relatives of the applicant for a work visa already live in Germany. Foreigners will be given one year to find a job.

According to the German Institute for Economic Research, in 2022, commercial organizations could not find qualified specialists for 630,000 vacancies. In 2021, this figure was 280,000. If Germany does not work on attracting foreign labor, then in 12 years the German economy will lack 7 million workers, experts say.
