July 12, Fineko/abc.az. The average monthly nominal wage of employees in the Azerbaijani economy increased for Jan-May 2023 by 11.1% compared with the same period of 2022 and amounted to 917 manats.

ABC.AZ informs with reference to the State Statistics Committee that the average monthly nominal salary was higher in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, professional, scientific and technical activities, as well as in the field of information and communications.

As of June 1, 2023, the number of employees in the country increased by 20,300 people or 1.2% versus Jan-May 2022 and reached 1,726,300 people, of which 898,600 people work in the public sector and 827,700 people in the non-state sector.

Of the employees, 19.2% are employed in education, 18.7% in trade, repair of vehicles, 12.9% in industry, 8.3% in health care and provision of social services to the population, 6.6% in construction, 6.5% in public administration and defense; social security, 4.3% in transport and warehousing, 3.6% - agriculture, forestry and fisheries, 3.6% - professional, scientific and technical activities, 2.1% - financial and insurance activities, 14.2% - other sectors of the economy.
