July 13, Fineko/abc.az. At least 66,000 residents are expected to return to the Karabakh Economic Region by 2026.
ABC.AZ reports that Emin Huseynov, Azerbaijani President’s Special Representative for the occupation-liberated territories, which are part of the Karabakh Economic Region, informed about thus at event "Revival of Aghdam" at the conference center in the city of Aghdam.
He added that another priority is the preservation of cultural and religious heritage. Currently, Juma and Giyasly mosques are being restored in Aghdam, and project work is underway to build new mosques in the villages of Sugovushan and Hadrut. Restoration works will start in the near future in the Panakhali Khan Palace – "Imarete" and the Shahbulag fortress. The tombstone of the prominent Azerbaijani poetess and daughter of the Khan, Khurshudban Natavan, located in the Imarete, has already been restored to its original form.
The Special Representative noted that the construction of two central hospitals will begin in Aghdam and Fuzuli in the near future. The Victory Museum and an open-air museum of occupation will be created both in Aghdam and in Fuzuli. Also at the development stage are projects for the construction of the central parks of Fuzuli and Aghdam and the Aghdam Forest Park.
"In accordance with the First State Program on the Great Return, all work on restoration and rehabilitation in the territories liberated from occupation can be divided into three main stages. At the first stage, by 2026, we have set goals to build 2 city centers and 32 villages in the Karabakh Economic Region, to focus three points on tourism, to prepare proposals for land reforms and to ensure the return of at least 66,000 residents to their native lands," he added.
