July 4, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijani Presidential Administration has made an announcement in connection with the latest events in the country.

In connection with the accident at the Mingachevir Thermal Power Plant the larger part of the country, including the Absheron Peninsula, was left without electricity. President Ilham Aliyev immediately took the question under personal control, tasked the relevant governmental agencies to liquidate the consequences of the accident, and ordered to establish a special state commission on the matter.

In accordance with the situation, strategically important facilities were taken under serious control and work of their management was organized. As a result of the measures taken, the predicted negative consequences were prevented, and most importantly, there were no human victims. Currently, the governmental agencies are taking necessary measures to eliminate the consequences and prevent the recurrence of such accidents, constantly inform the population.

Unfortunately, during the liquidation of the consequences of the accident at the Mingachevir TPP there was an attack on Ganja City Executive Power’s head Elmar Veliyev and his bodyguard Gasim Ashbazov. The Ganja mayor was wounded and placed in a hospital. The President was immediately informed on the occasion and gave the relevant instructions. The criminal was detained and will be brought to justice.

As you can see, the Azerbaijani government is able to ensure the safety and normal pace of life of country’s population in all situations, including emergency ones.

The media promptly and objectively informed the public about the causes of the accident, about liquidation of consequences, reacted responsibly and fulfilled their obligations in order to prevent excitement among the population.

The governmental agencies took appropriate measures to eliminate the problems in connection with the accident at the Mingachevir TPP and the assassination of the Ganja mayor, and normal activity in all spheres was restored for a short period.
