August 22, Fineko/abc.az. The interest of local entrepreneurs in Jalilabad in the development of strawberries is growing every year.

This crop, grown in open ground for about nine months a year, has been grown in greenhouses beginning from the autumn season, ABC.AZ reports.

At present, the area of plots sown with strawberries, which is estimated as an important profitable area, has been brought to 510 hectares in the region, and harvesting continues.

According to the State Center for Agrarian Development of Jalilabad (SCAD), last year alone, 15,280 tons of quality crops were harvested from strawberry fields. Along with the local market, about 12,000 tons of products were exported to world markets. In addition, orders were received from entrepreneurs for the export of products from Arab countries, Iraq, Kazakhstan and Belarus.

Last year, producers received AZN 6.8 million of net profit from the sale of strawberries.

Since the beginning of the spring season, producers have collected 12,365 tons of products from the fields, of which 10,900 tons were exported.
