August 31, Fineko/abc.az. The European Union (EU) countries imported 4,773 tons of shelled hazelnuts (a decrease of 43.9% year-on-year) worth 25.395 million euros (a decrease of 48.7%) from Azerbaijan in the first half of 2023, according to the message of the statistical office of the European Union (Eurostat).

ABC.AZ reports with reference to Interfax-Azerbaijan that, according to statistics, in January-June 2023, Azerbaijan exported 2,539 tons of hazelnuts (an increase of 47%) worth 13.708 million euros (an increase of 34.2%) to Germany, 1,396 tons (a decrease of 4. 7 times) worth 7.441 million euros (down 5.1 times) to Italy.

Small volumes were purchased by the Czech Republic, Estonia, Spain, France, Latvia, Poland and Slovakia.

According to Eurostat, the EU countries imported 10,061 tons of hazelnuts from Azerbaijan in 2022 (an increase of 42.7% compared to 2021) worth 58.103 million euros (an increase of 44.5%).
