September 19, Fineko/abc.az. India has suspended trade negotiations with Canada due to disagreements on certain issues.
ABC.AZ reports with reference to foreign media that Indian Trade & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated about this.
The minister made this statement after Canada cancelled its trade mission to India scheduled for early October. It was expected that the work of the mission would cover the fields of agriculture, food industry, digital technologies, infrastructure, etc.
"We have suspended the trade dialogue with Canada. We need to make sure that we are in the same position from geopolitical and economic point of view. At the bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau, some issues of serious concern were highlighted,” Goyal said.
At the moment, India and Canada have held 6 rounds of negotiations on a trade agreement.
