November 3, Fineko/abc.az. Some districts of Azerbaijan have observed a decline in meat prices at slaughter points.
ABC.AZ reports that one of such districts is Aghsu.
According to the meat sellers, the price for 1 kg of veal, previously sold for 15 and even 16 manats, is currently offered in the district for 13-14 manats.
Ulduz Allahyarov, who sells meat, says that the cause of drop in prices was decline in prices on the animal market:
"The decrease in the cost of live animal weight recorded over the past few days has also affected the price in butcher shops. Therefore, at present, prices at slaughtering points have fallen by 1 manat and in some places by 2 manats."
Other sellers, however, attribute the price reduction to decrease in the number of buyers. According to the sellers, if earlier calf meat weighing 150 kg was sold in one day, now it is not sold even in 3 days. And this was reflected in the price. In addition, since the prices on the feed market are currently stable, the villagers are not going to offer animals too expensive. Because when they sell an animal dearly, prices in the points also rise. As a result, there is shortage of buyers, which is not beneficial for the villagers.
In Aghsu, there is no decrease in the price of mutton, unlike veal. Currently, a kilogram of lamb in all butcher shops in the district costs 17 manats.
A drop in veal prices is also observed in the Aghdam and Barda districts. So, in Barda district, veal fell in price from 14 to 13 manats, and lamb from 18 to 17 manats. The price of mutton has also declined by 1 manat.
