Harmful substances released into atmosphere to be regulated now by state standard

11:57 - 13.11.2023

November 13, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization, subordinate to the State Service for Antimonopoly Control & Consumer Market Supervision, has adopted standard AZS 636:2023 "Road Vehicles. Ecological Classes".

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization that the standard was developed in order to form requirements for emissions of harmful substances into the atmospheric air from vehicles in circulation in the country (imported and manufactured in the Republic of Azerbaijan), to reduce the harm they cause to the environment, human life and health, as well as to expand the use of eco-friendly clean vehicles and other green technologies, stimulating the turnover of safe vehicles and creating the necessary infrastructure, instead of state standard AZS 636-2012 "Road transport. Ecological classes".

The draft standard was discussed in the Technical Committee for Standardization "Road Transport" (AZSTAND/TK 19) and, taking into account opinions and suggestions, was adopted by consensus.
