December 1, Fineko/abc.az. International tourism will recover by 90% from the pre-pandemic level by the end of 2023. Over Jan-Sept 2023, the number of tourist trips in the world reached about 975 million (38% more versus Jan-Sept 2022), the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) announced on Thursday.
ABC.AZ reports that in the 3rd quarter, the countries received 22% more foreign tourists compared with Q3 of 2022. The number of international tourist trips reached 91% of the pre-pandemic level, making up 92% in July, the best month since the beginning of the pandemic.
In general, for Jan-Sept 2023, tourism recovered by 87% from the level of 2019. According to the organization, this will allow the sector to recover almost by 90% by the end of the year.
The Middle East remains the leader in the recovery of the industry: in the first 9 months of 2023, the number of tourists here exceeded the pre-pandemic figures by 20%.
