December 4, Fineko/abc.az. Agriculture in Azerbaijan, where 80% of farms are located in arid or semi-arid areas, and irrigated crops provide up to 80% of total agricultural output, is already experiencing serious problems with water security.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the World Bank’s figures in connection with Azerbaijan.

It was noted that due to the additional level of evaporation and the need for water, although the rate of warming in the country averages 0.7°C, the situation is even more aggravated in summer and spring and in dry years.

"The uncertainty of future precipitation trends poses challenges to investments in the water sector and policies in this sector," the report notes.
