December 11, Fineko/abc.az. Amendments to the Law on Unemployment Insurance will make it easier to receive insurance payments.
ABC.AZ reports that this was announced by Milli Majlis Committee on Labor & Social Policy Musa Guliyev.
He noted that under current legislation, unemployment insurance payments were made only in three cases.
"The payment of unemployment insurance was made at the time of the abolition of enterprises, the liquidation of staff at the enterprise and the expiration of the employment contract. This payment was ensured if employee's insurance record was at least 30 months. Under the changes, this period is reduced to 24 months. In addition, if an employee quits his job when the owner of the enterprise changes or the enterprise reduces its staff, in this case, according to the Labor Code, the employee will be assigned unemployment benefits. In another case, a person who previously worked at the relevant workplace, then quit, but was reinstated by a court decision, will also be able to use unemployment benefits. The third case is that if a person has completed military service and returns to work, then the employee working in his place loses his job, and in this case this person will be able to receive unemployment insurance," the MP said.
The amendment to the law was discussed at Milli Majlis plenary session on December 8 and was adopted in the 1st reading.
