By 2027, 8 industrial-scale power plants to be put into operation

February 21, Fineko/abc.az. By 2027, 8 industrial-scale power plants will be put into operation to increase the share of renewable energy sources, as well as decarbonize oil and gas operations, including at the Sangachal terminal.

ABC.AZ was informed at the Ministry of Energy that Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, who is on a visit to Washington, said about this at a meeting at the State Department with U.S. President’s Deputy Special Envoy on Climate Issues Rick Duke.

Parviz Shahbazov informed the interlocutor on the issues of creating a new legislative framework in the field of energy in a short time, decarbonization of oil and gas operations, including the activities of the Sangachal terminal.

During the meeting, the course of Azerbaijan, which COP29 will adopt, to accelerate the transition to "green energy", the national contribution to decarbonization (NDC), the country's cooperation with the United States on the creation of a green energy corridor towards the EU were also discussed.

"The meeting also discussed the issue of cooperation with the United States on the creation of a "green energy corridor" between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary for the export of "green electricity" and "green gas" based on the potential of the Caspian Sea for wind energy of 157 GW," the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan said in a statement.
