February 23, Fineko/abc.az. The United States will impose sanctions on Friday, February 23, on more than 500 facilities as part of measures dedicated to the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, ABC.AZ reports, quoting U.S. Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo.

In an interview with the agency, the official noted that the measures taken in partnership with other countries will be aimed at the Russian military-industrial complex, as well as companies in third countries that help facilitate Russia's access to the goods it needs. According to him, Washington seeks to hold Russia accountable for the war and the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

"Tomorrow we will impose hundreds of sanctions only here in the U.S. However, it is important to take a step back and remember that it is not only America that is taking these measures," Adeyemo said.

He added that the sanctions are designed to block Russia's access to goods needed to create weapons and slow down the aggressor country's access to income that it needs to maintain its economy and produce weapons.
