February 28, Fineko/abc.az. COP29 will be held in Baku by unanimous decision of the countries of the world.

ABC.AZ reports that Zaur Mikayilov, the chairman of the State Agency of Water Resources of Azerbaijan, stated about this.

He noted that the negative impact of global climate change on water resources is increasing.

"Azerbaijan is a country with very limited water resources. We have 30 bcm of surface water. After recent climate changes, these reserves have sharply decreased, in 2022 they amounted to only 17 bcm. Of them, 4.8 bcm were formed in the country itself, and the rest came from neighboring countries. Therefore, the creation of new water sources is required, and improving wastewater treatment is one of the priority areas of policy," Mikayilov said at hearing "The country's water sector: problems & new challenges" jointly held by the Milli Majlis Committees on Natural Resources, Energy & Ecology and Agrarian Policy.
