March 15, Fineko/abc.az. According to preliminary data, as of March 1, 2024, the economically active population amounted to 5,250,900 people.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee that the employed population reached 4,964,100 people.

As of February 1, 2024, the number of employees totaled 1,725,100 people, including 901,700 people in the public sector of the economy, and 823,400 people in the private sector.

31,400 people worked in the oil & gas sector of the economy, and 1,693,700 people in the non–oil/gas sector.

22.5% of employees in enterprises and organizations are employed in the field of production, including 7.3% in manufacturing, 6.3% in construction, 3.3% in agriculture, forestry and fishing, 2.0% in water supply, waste treatment and recycling, 1.9% in mining, 1.7 % in the production, distribution and supply of electric power, gas and steam.

Of those who worked in the service sector, 19.2% were employed in education, 18.6% in trade; vehicle repair, 8.5% in health and social services for the population, 6.5% in public administration and defense; social security, 5% in the provision of administrative services and support services and 4.2% - in the field of transport and warehousing; 3.7% in the field of professional, scientific and technical activities, 3.1% in the field of recreation, entertainment and art, 2.5% in the field of tourist accommodation and catering, 2.2% in the field of financial and insurance activities, 1.9% in the field of information & communications, 1.1% in the field of operations with real estate and 1% in other areas.
