March 27, Fineko/abc.az. Kazakhstan plans to export 160,000 tons of onions to Azerbaijan and Georgia this year.
ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Kazakh media that Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov stated about this.
He added that work relatinh to logistics issues is currently underway.
"In previous years, our country exported 180,000 tons of onions. And this year we shipped 117,000 tons. That is, exports decreased by 70,000 tons. Therefore, the price has also decreased. But we're not looking at that. The work continues," Saparov said.
According to the Kazakh minister, now the price of onions has decreased worldwide, exports have also decreased.
"Since this year, the ministry has started to bring the plan and indicators to the regional akimats. In fact, there was no indication how many onions to sow and what volume should be according to the plan. Since this year, on behalf of the Prime Minister, we’ve delivered indicators to the regions. As for onions, the price has really increased in previous years, so farms have started to deal with them. Now the price of onions has decreased all over the world. Exports have also fallen," Saparov said.
