Azerbaijan to launch a new satellite into orbit in 2026

April 5, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan will launch the next Earth remote observation satellite with high-resolution electro-optical sensors into orbit in 2026, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Azercosmos chairman of board Sameddin Asadov.

According to Asadov, space instruments are one of the main tools for monitoring climate change: "Currently, climate change can be measured using more than 160 spacecraft around the world."

He noted that exactly 60% of the information received on climate change is information received from space.

Currently, the space agency continues to work on all parameters in the liberated territories.

The chairman said that the next satellite projects are being developed: "We plan to launch the next optical surveillance satellite in 2026."
