April 9, Fineko/abc.az. Ferrari is expanding its experence in the field of batteries for electric vehicles.

ABC.AZ reports that Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna stated that the company wants to increase its knowledge in the field of battery cells, given their importance for the transition to electrified cars.

However, the Italian manufacturer of luxury sports cars has no plans to start their own production. Vigna noted that Ferrari intends to study the structure of batteries and acquire the necessary knowledge through the battery cell research center in partnership with the University of Bologna and chip manufacturer NXP Semiconductors.

The E-Cells laboratory focuses on electrochemistry and aims to enhance Ferrari's expertise in the field of battery cells. Vigna noted that Ferrari will use more and more batteries and will need to know their chemistry, but does not yet see solid-state batteries as a real option.
