April 15, Fineko/abc.az. The population of Azerbaijan has increased by 6,769 people or 0.1% since the beginning of the year and reached 10,187,539 people on March 1, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the State Statistics Committee.

According to statistics, 54.5% of the population are urban and 45.5% are rural. 49.8% are men and 50.2% - women.

Over Jan-Feb 2024, 594 twins and 36 triplets were born in Azerbaijan.

In 2 months of the year, 17,081 newborns were registered by the district (city) registration departments of the Ministry of Justice.

The birth rate per 1,000 population decreased from 11.7 to 10.2 compared with the same period of 2023.

Among newborns, the proportion of boys was 52.5%, and girls - 47.5%.
