April 15, Fineko/abc.az. The production of agricultural products in Azerbaijan is highly dependent on foreign varieties.

ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in the first issue of Accounts Chamber’s quarterly newsletter "State Audit“ for 2024.

In 2019-2022, 88.1-93% of new varieties registered in the State Register of Protected Breeding Achievements, approved for use for agricultural production in the territory of Azerbaijan were foreign varieties, which is a consequence of the weak organization of breeding work in local research institutes and one of the indicators of how high the level of depending on foreign varieties.
