April 24, Fineko/abc.az. The production of bread and flour products, which occupy the main place in the consumer basket of the population, has decreased in Azerbaijan.

In the first quarter of 2024, 262,100 tons of bread were produced (8.2% less compared with the same period of 2023 – 391,070 tons of wheat flour), while in the 1st quarter of 2024 flour production dropped by 6.5% to 365,380 tons.

The production of flour confectionery products fell by 0.2% to 18,100 tons.

Despite the population growth, the production of flour products and bread in the country is declining. According to the State Statistics Committee, in 2023 the flour production will drop by 2.6% compared with 2022, to 1.328 million tons, and bread - by 3.1%, to 1.207 million tons.
