June 21, Fineko/ The number of sales of all-electric cars in Türkiye in the first 5 months of this year grew 2.6-fold versus Jan-May 2023 up to 27,604 vehicles.

ABC.AZ reports that 471,743 new cars were sold by the end of May alone.

While car sales increased by 10.2% up to 375,970 over the period, sales of commercial vehicles fell by 7.9% to 96,646.

In addition, for 5 months of this year, gasoline–powered cars took the 1st place with sales of 247,828 vehicles, and hybrid cars - 2nd place with sales of 54,065 vehicles.

The main cause of decline in sales of diesel cars is that global manufacturers continue to stop producing diesel cars, so new diesel cars are not being brought to market.

From January to May, the share of gross sales grew from 2.3% to 7.4% for all-electric cars and from 10.6% to 14.4% for hybrids.

If cars are rated as fully electric, wide-range electric and hybrid, it can be seen that 22.7% of the entire market is made up of cars with electric motors.

In May, only 7,349 electric vehicles were sold. The market share of these cars in May was 9.2%.
