SOCAR acquires a 50% stake of Norwegian company in Karabakh field project

July 24, Fineko/abc.az. Norwegian company Equinor has closed a deal on sale of a 50% stake to SOCAR in Karabakh field development project in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, ABC.AZ reports, referring to Equinor.

"The deal on the sale of a 50% stake in Karabakh project to SOCAR was completed on April 24, 2024,“ the company says.

At that, Equinor notes that it plans to complete the sale of its shares in the development projects of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) block of fields and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline by the end of 2024.

Equinor recalls that on December 22, 2023, it signed an agreement with SOCAR on the sale of its portfolio in Azerbaijan, including the ACG, BTC and Karabakh projects.
