July 29, Fineko/abc.az. Wheat reserves in Georgia have actually been exhausted, and mills will stop working in the coming days, as the country has begun to import flour actively, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Levan Silagavahe, the head of the Association of Grain & Flour Producers of Georgia.

"Flour, which replaces wheat, has been aggressively imported into the country for several months. Today we have reached the situation where the wheat reserves that we had earlier are actually exhausted and the mills will stop within a few days," Silagava said.

He added that according to the current Georgian legislation, the import tax on flour is zero, and wheat is floating and today amounts to $120 per ton. According to Silagawa, the UN recommends that countries keep at least two months of wheat stocks.
