July 30, Fineko/abc.az. The leaders of the EU member states are calling on the authorities to withdraw the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence, which de facto leads to the suspension of the process of Georgia's accession to the EU.
ABC.AZ reports that Asuncion Sanchez Ruiz, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia, stated about this after a meeting at the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"We mentioned the conclusion of the European Commission, adopted by the 27 member states of the EU on June 27, in which the EU expresses concern about development of recent events in Georgia. In particular, with regard to the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence, which is an obstacle to Georgia's accession to the EU. The leaders of the member states urge the authorities to withdraw this initiative, which de facto leads to the suspension of the process of Georgia's accession to the EU," she said.
Today ,the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia hosted a presentation "On the implementation of the nine steps identified for Georgia in communication with the European Commission's enlargement policy of November 8, 2023", which was attended by ambassadors of EU member states and other partner countries.
