August 2, Fineko/abc.az. A response has been received to an official letter of protest sent by the Ministry of Youth & Sports and the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in connection with the biased statements made by a reporter from national TV channel France2 to Azerbaijan at the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games in Paris on July 26.

ABC.AZ reports that in a reply letter, the IOC apologized to Azerbaijan for the statements made by a France2 correspondent while commenting on the event.

The letter notes that such statements contradict the principles and values that the International Olympic Committee promotes through sports and the Olympic Games. Therefore, contacts were established with responsible institutions and individuals on this issue, and they were reminded of the IOC's working principles and protocols to prevent similar cases in the future.

"Given the biased position of TV channel France2 , the broadcaster of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, towards Azerbaijan and the letter of apology from the IOC to our country in connection with this incident, we expect that the French government will also officially apologize to Azerbaijan," the OIC said.
