August 2, Fineko/abc.az. Over Jan-Jun 2024, 384,000 hectares of acreage were insured in Azerbaijan (18% more versus Jan-Jun 2023.

ABC.AZ was informed at the Agricultural Insurance Fund that wheat, barley, corn, cotton, as well as rice, sugar beet, hazelnuts and pomegranate orchards were among the most frequently insured crops for six months.

In the insured areas, growth was recorded on all plants. Thus, the area of insured cotton fields increased 2.3-fold, rice crops - 2.2-fold, pomegranate orchards - 4.5-fold, barley fields - almost 2-fold, and wheat fields - 1.3-fold.

In the first half of the year, 11.18 million manats of agricultural insurance premiums were collected in the country. Of them, 10.189 million manats were paid for crop insurance, and insurance coverage for a total of 418 million manats was provided for acreage. In general, insurance coverage for insured farms amounted to about 430 million manats.
